Facebook will invest in a developer community based in Eldoret town. Developer Circles from Facebook is a program for developers all over the world to connect, learn and collaborate with other developers. It was launched during the F8 meetup in 2017 and has grown to over 40 Circles all across the globe.
They are community-driven, free to join and are a forum to share knowledge, collaborate, build new ideas, and learn about the latest technologies from Facebook and other industry leaders. Their goal is to empower developers.
According to Gertrude Nyenyeshi Facebook sees Eldoret as a budding home to smart talented young people; incredible minds that are already building solutions using technology. Developer Circle Eldoret aims to bring together students, experts, enthusiasts and professionals to foster a community of people driven to collaborate, learn, build, inspire and support each other in the different fields of technology.
There are various categories under which those interested in the project can take part. You can come on board as an attendee, exhibitor or speaker. Women are highly encouraged to apply. The first step to getting started is to join the program’s Facebook Group. The official launch date will be announced in due course. We will keep you updated.
