Deputy President William Ruto is a master tactician. The move to delve fully into the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) campaigns, as announced by his lieutenants led by Senate majority leader Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, is a masterstroke. He understands that in politics as in war, you must constantly continue advancing and mutating; infiltrate and adopt formlessness. By assimilating yourself into your enemies, you give them zero targets to attack and you control their strategies and tactics.
The DP’s detractors have been using BBI to fight him but now he’s joined the bandwagon and he seems intent on taking charge of the whole show. He is now supporting what they want him to oppose. They will now either have to bolt out from BBI and fight him from outside or go back to the drawing board to design another war. TangaTanga MPs led by firebrand politicians Kipchumba Murkomen and Oscar Sudi will now seek to take charge of the BBI process in the Rift Valley and will surely eclipse the hapless and colorless Elgeyo Marakwet Governor and a sworn enemy of Kipchumba Murkomen, H.E. Alex Tolgos. Tolgos, viewed by the Kieleweke brigade as a safe pair of hands, was last week appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as his BBI point-man in the Rift Valley.
The ODM and Kieleweke brigades are like buffaloes, as the only strategy they posses is aggression. When you deny them a target for aggression they lose balance. William Ruto is know to be a good student of Robert Greene’s book THE 33 STRATEGIES OF WAR and his latest move heavily features the following laws:
LAW 12. LOSE BATTLES BUT WIN THE WAR.
People will inevitably get the best of you at times. Keep a cool head and stay focused on large, long-term goals and let your opponents enjoy small victories.
LAW 20. MANEUVER THEM INTO WEAKNESS.
Create a dilemma for your enemy, in which the only way they can respond to your move is with a decision that will hurt them in some way.
LAW 15. CONTROL THE DYNAMIC.
The best way to manipulate your opponents’ emotions is to define the nature of your relationship. If they are especially arrogant, give them the impression that they are the one in control.
LAW 26. DENY THEM TARGETS.
Keep the competition from engaging you with all their might by staying innovative and unpredictable, which will keep them afraid and frustrated.
Based on the above, President Uhuru and Raila now have only two plausible options: to either play along or wage a direct war on Ruto with the latter promising to be very detrimental! All the battles going forward will be fought inside BBI. It’s officially a war zone, with Mama Ngina grounds, Mombasa hosting the first battle.
