Mombasa Governor H.E. Ali Hassan Joho’s visit to former president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi’s home seems to have badly rattled Deputy president William Ruto’s insiders. The flamboyant Governor arrived aboard a chopper in the company of Mvita MP Hon. Abdulswammad Sharrif Nassir and other associates to be received by Tiaty MP Hon.William Kamket and other KANU leaning members of the National Assembly. They then proceeded to have tea and consultations with the aging former President and his son Baringo County Senator Hon. Gideon Moi.
Thereafter, they headed to Tiaty for a Harambee in aid of building classrooms. During the function, Hon. Joho endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fight against corruption and seemed to take a swipe at the Deputy President who was recently ranked as the most corrupt Kenyan by an IPSOS Synnovate poll.

His remarks during the fund raiser have elicited brutal reactions from Ruto’s diehard supporters in the National Assembly led by Senate leader of Majority Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapseret Constituency Member of National Assembly Hon. Oscar Sudi.
Hon. Murkomen accused Gov. Joho of calling President Moi a thief and corrupt man during the function. Joho had earlier lamented that it was shameful for leaders to be doing harambees for classrooms and other important social amenities 55 years after independence, adding that had preceding Presidents and their cronies not raped the country’s economy, we would be having a better quality of life. These comments are what Hon. Murkomen interpreted as thin veiled attacks at the Mois.

On his part, Hon. Sudi, via a video that has since gone viral told Hon. Joho to Keep off rift valley politics and developmental matters and instead focus on ‘his drug trade’. He says Gov. Joho through this trade has messed up the lives of many youth in Mombasa county but enjoys immunity by virtue of his position as a Governor, else he’d have been deported to the USA to answer to charges of drug trafficking.
